How We Hold presents more than a decade of collaborative projects organised by the Serpentine Galleries’ Education and Civic Department. The publication brings together the voices and experiences of artists, organisers, educators, and many others (including children, carers, and those navigating the immigration system) who find hope, possibility and life even in the most challenging circumstances.

Conceived as a shared resource, the publication is intended for arts educators, cultural workers, facilitators, and organisers. It examines how creative practices can become tools for change, opening paths towards both personal and social transformation.

The publication adopts the standardised A4 format for easy photocopying and borrows its fluorescent paper colours from Post-it notes commonly used in the workshops. The cover features a long fold with the title cut out to reveal the first page beneath. When unfolded, it displays a timeline of over ten years of UK political events, providing meaningful context for the art projects presented inside the book.
